Starting from the parking lot at Hjellefossen, the trail follows a gravel path alongside an icy blue river and through lush greenery. Once you've reached the Vettigard tourist hut, continue on a rocky, narrow trail to the base of Vettisfossen. With a single drop of 275 metres, this is the highest free-falling waterfall in Europe and it's one of those places whose sheer magnitude is impossible to capture on film. Take a break in the cooling mist of the waterfall before retracing your steps to the car park.
