Blue Mountains National Park

The Blue Mountains are a ninety-minute drive west of Sydney. This National Park has just everything: waterfalls, valleys, viewpoints, canyons and rainforests. You can go hiking, but also cycling, abseiling or mountain climbing! What sets the Blue Mountains apart is the blue oil haze created by a natural phenomenon: the eucalyptus oil droplets released by the forests mingle with dust particles and water vapour, resulting in the scattering of short wavelength rays of light which are predominantly blue in colour. This makes the Blue Mountains an absolute must-see during your Australia round trip. The lookout spot right next to this gigantic rock formation 'The Three Sisters' is perfect for sunset btw! You'll have a panoramic view over the mountains, and the scenery looks simply spectacular.
