Arosa, a high-altitude winter sports village in Graubünden in southeastern Switzerland, offers over 60 km of well-maintained walking and winter hiking trails. These trails lead through snow-covered forests or traverse the snow sports area, leading to various mountain huts. This unique setup allows pedestrians to experience the coziness of serviced huts while exploring the winter wonderland. With the help of the route planner available on the winter sports area website (see link), you can plan and organise the perfect winter hike, allowing you to soak in the picturesque winter landscapes and panoramic views at your own pace. In March, we embarked on a long winter hike that combined two ascents: one to the summit of the Weisshorn, Arosa's highest point, and another to the Hornliütte. This exhilarating adventure showcased the beauty and diversity of Arosa's winter landscape. Most of the routes extend above the tree line, offering incredible panoramas, though they can be chilly on winter days. Another advantage of Arosa is its excellent accessibility. You can easily reach this winter sports village by taking a train from the provincial city of Chur via the Rhaetian Railway. Chur itself is well-connected, with convenient links from major cities like Zurich and Bern. Still not convinced? Check out the photos to fully immerse yourself in the wintry atmosphere.
