Discover the untamed beauty of Yala National Park, a stretched out wilderness on Sri Lanka's southeastern coast. With its diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife, Yala promises an unforgettable safari experience. Leopards, elephants, peacocks, mongooses, crocodiles, land monitors,... are some of the animals you can spot in Yala National Park.
We opted for the half-day safari, which meant... picking up at 5 AM! Early mornings often provide the best chance for wildlife sightings, so set your alarm and get ready for an early start ;-). A funny thing we noticed during our safari was that the guides stay in constant contact with one another to maximize the chances of spotting leopards. When one guide spots a leopard, be prepared for a rush of jeeps all heading in the same direction! This also happened with us, but we arrived at the scene a little too late. Nonetheless, our elephant and crocodile encounters were enough to soften the blow of just missing out.
Lastly, we want to mention that the park entry fee varies depending on your group size. Splitting the cost with friends can make the safari more affordable. Aim for a price between € 40 to € 60 (entry fee included) and you're golden! All that's left to say is: get your camera ready, jump in a jeep, and prepare for a wild adventure in the heart of Sri Lanka.
