Picos de Europa is a hidden gem in northern Spain, less known than the Pyrenees but just as impressive. The park is more compact and rugged, featuring steep limestone peaks and deep gorges. Its highest mountain, Torre Cerredo, reaches 2,650 meters. Less developed than other mountain regions, it’s perfect for travellers seeking silence and adventure. The peak tourist season runs from June to September, but May and October offer a quieter atmosphere and stunning scenery. I visited in November during the first snowfall, and the solitude made it an unforgettable experience.
