La Tour-de-Peilz - Le Grand Bornand
The start of La Route des Grandes Alpes with immediately two Alpine passes: Col des Gets and Col de la Colombière

La Tour-de-Peilz - Le Grand Bornand
144 km 2350 meters of elevation “It's been two months since we've been waiting for spring,” said the friendly Swiss man I started talking to at Lake Geneva. There, the sun quickly chased away the dreary morning. So I'm lucky, because after 6 days, I've only had to face 1 shower. Today was also beautiful cycling weather: 24 degrees in the valley, 15 at the mountain tops. ☀️ After a half lap around Lake Geneva and a passage by Vittel - yes, from the water💧 - I arrived in Thonon-les-Bains, the official starting point of La Route des Grandes Alpes. With the Col des Gets and Col de la Colombière, I can already check off 3 of the 17 passes. The first one went so well that I also attached the second one. A mistake. I won't plan such a beastly pass at the end of such a long day anymore.. It was an assault on my head and legs that now makes me long for rest. That said, La Colombière is an amazing pass that I clearly climbed from the least beautiful side, because the descent towards Le Grand Bornand is one of the most beautiful I've ever done.
