Portugal
First, indulge in some culture in Bon Vivant style!
You know how it is, arriving at the airport hungry... going into the first restaurant, being disappointed, etc. My tip? Create a Google Maps list in advance where you save some restaurants, villages you want to visit, etc. Does that mean your whole trip is already set? No, but this way you have saved only restaurants in each village or area where you know (with some) certainty that the Bon Vivant in you will have nothing to complain about.

In an oasis of orange trees
Landed, pick up rental car and drop off luggage. We were allowed to drop off our luggage for the first few days of our trip at Fazenda Grande. Four cozy apartments and an infinity pool with a view of an oasis of orange trees. A lovely place in nature & peace to relax after a day full of activities! - made possible by Eliza Was Here

Boats, grilled fish & plastic chairs: Casa Corvo in Fuseta
Landed, picked up rental car, dropped off suitcases and slid feet under the table. That was our first day in the Algarve. Entering in style, I call it, because what tastes better than fresh grilled fish and a large jug of sangria to kick off the holiday? Fuseta is small and mainly known as a departure point for boats heading to the islands off the coast. The village doesn't offer much, but maybe that's what makes it so charming. Tip: slide your feet under the table at Casa Corvo, we had one of the best meals of our trip here. You eat authentically at non-touristy prices! Tip tip: Have the grilled squid and some grilled prawns as a starter (see photos)!

Relaxing
You know that first day of vacation, always tired from the journey. Add a very extensive lunch to that and a person needs a few hours to 'relax'. 'Relaxing' is what you do when you've eaten way too much, the kind of food that's 'too good to leave behind, even though I've had enough', the food that calls for an extensive siesta. In summary, 'relaxing' and there's no better place for it than the pool of this lovely stay.
