The Algarve has a whole arsenal of tourists, from surf lovers to partygoers and from sunbathers to busy bees. Throw that last group into the mix with bon vivants and your trip to the Algarve is composed with this 'holiday'.
The typical image of the Algarve is the golden high cliffs that represent a large part of the coastline. Worth it? Absolutely, but in high season (read: August), maybe just a bit overloaded. I also make it a sport in my 'research phase' to get that little bit 'less touristy' on my radar. Local fresh food in plastic chairs, lesser-known villages, and some active activities are standard here. An accommodation that also represents this principle, along with a carefree rental car, completes the trip.
