Early birds
An early arrival in Valencia gave us the opportunity to do lots of exploring and see some of the city highlights!

Brunch at BASTARD Coffee & Kitchen
Before my workation started, I did some research on the best remote working spaces. I came across BASTARD quite often. Since we arrived in the city early and could not check-in to our room yet, we decided to head over to BASTARD to have brunch and already get some of our work done. They serve the most amazing dishes at reasonable prices. For remote workers: there's free wifi and plenty of plugs to charge your laptop. There's a super open, cosy & relaxed atmosphere.
Taking the bus in Valencia is super easy and only costs you €1.5 per trip.

A 'pitstop' at Oceanogràfic
After we got our work for the morning done, it was only 1p.m. We could check-in to our room at Hotel Sea You Port Valencia at 3p.m. Therefore we decided to use this time to already check out one of the highlights of the city: the Oceanogràfic! The Oceanogràfic is part of the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias. A set of astonishing, complex buildings in the city. It includes the aquarium, a museum, a beautiful park, even a place where you can rent see-through kayaks and for the night owls there's an open air club in between palmtrees called MYA! We paid €36 per person for entrance to the Oceanogràfic, this also included a 4D cinema show. We honestly had the best afternoon. The animals, the park itself, the atmosphere, it's all so impressive. Besides this, the sunny weather obviously also made the day that lovely. We had one more place in the Oceanogràfic to visit, the dolphinarium. Just as we were about to go in, a show was starting! They start off the show with an interactive quiz, a great way to get the audience going. We ended up in third place (probably because we were mainly quizzing against children and elderly) 🤓. A must see in Valencia if you ask me.
Besides public transport, Uber is also a great way to get around and the prices are super reasonable.

Checking-in at Sea You Hotel Port Valencia
Once we left the Oceanogràfic, we were able to check-in to Sea You Hotel Port Valencia. A charming 4-star urban hotel at a great location. Obviously close to the port, but also to the ocean and the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias. They allocated us a beautiful room with lots of natural light. Before starting the rest of our workday, we decided to explore the hotel. They have a stunning rooftop with (sunrise & sunset) views over the city. In summertime, their rooftop bar is open as well. Since we had a super long day, we worked from the bed before heading into the city for dinner.

Exploring El Carmen
Not only did I look up remote working spaces, I obviously also did some research to find the best spots to have dinner. I love trying the localities of places I visit. La Pilareta was one of the spots I came across quite often during my research. We arrived and walked into the place, but it gave us a horrible first impression. A cold atmosphere, the person behind the bar had his AirPods in and didn't greet us. We didn't feel comfortable and decided to leave. Around the corner we found another spot called JamónJamón. A lovely, cosy place. We were welcomed super enthusiastically and they let us choose our table. JamónJamón serves a 4-course menu for €45, which we decided to have. It was delicious and the service was kind and attentive all night long. A definite go-to when you're visiting Valencia!
