Vietnam
Un mélange d'histoire et de culture
Votre deuxième jour est entièrement consacré à savourer plus de café et de street food. Vous visiterez également le musée de la prison Hoa Lo et assisterez à un spectacle de marionnettes aquatiques.
Start your day at The Note Coffee
Start your second day at The Note Coffee. This cozy coffee shop is not like your ordinary coffee shop, since it’s full of… you guessed it: notes! It has existed for over 10 years, and is a super fun way to get a feel of the vibe that Hanoi offers. We can really recommend getting the signature iced blend coconut latte, it’s really good. There are 4 levels at the Note Coffee, the higher you go the better your view of Hoan Kiem Lake. And, don’t forget to write some sticky notes, of course! ;-)
Une promenade de 12 minutes vous amène à votre prochaine destination.
Visit the Hoa Lo Prison Museum
After a delicious coconut coffee and amazing vibes, it is time for something more serious. We take you to Hoa Lo Prison, also called Hanoi Hilton or Maison Centrale. This prison was first used by the French to house political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam to house American soldiers during the Vietnam War. We’ll tell you straight away, the things you’ll hear and see at this place can be very touching. The fact you can walk around in a place where so much has happened is really cool, but also a bit scary. It is really worth it to pay the 100k VND extra to get the audio guide! It offers way more information than what you’d read on the signs, and is way more immersive. We spent over 2 hours here with the audio guide, so definitely reserve enough time for this place.
Join a street food tour
What better way to learn all about Vietnam and Hanoi, than with a street food walking tour? Not only will you get to taste some of (North) Vietnam’s finest foods, you’ll also explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter on foot! Think of walking through beer street, paint street, and train street on your way to the next hidden restaurant. A really cool experience, and the food is definitely great, too! We tried some amazing banh mi’s, different types of pho, the northern classic “bun cha”, and so much more. It’s hard to predict what you’ll get, but it’ll be great nonetheless!
End your day with a water puppet show
When in Hanoi, visit an iconic water puppet show. ;-) We booked a combined ticket of a street food tour and water puppet show, which meant that we had our whole afternoon and evening planned out! The guide took us to Thang Long Theatre near the lake, where we watched the water spectacle. It was a lot of fun, although we didn’t understand what the actors and singers were saying. If this bothers you, you can opt to buy the audio guide to learn more about the show. We don’t think it is necessary to enjoy it, though, as there are plenty of visuals you can enjoy and laugh at.
