Try your first egg coffee at Cafe Giang

You’ve probably noticed by now that Vietnam is famous for its different types of coffees. Well, what better way to start your first day in Hanoi than with a famous egg coffee? For this we take you to Giang Cafe, a cozy and almost hidden cafe in the Old Quarter. It is the perfect place to get your first taste of egg coffee, after that first one you’ll definitely want more! We found the egg coffee at Giang Cafe the best in Hanoi, and if it weren’t for Cafe the Began the best in Vietnam. ;-) Having one (or multiple) of them on their tiny balcony with a view of the cozy street below is definitely a vibe!

Prenez votre première Grab (ou taxi) et faites un trajet de 10 minutes hors du Vieux Quartier.

Peaceful escape at Tran Quoc Pagoda

The Old Quarter, or just Hanoi in general, can get quite busy. To escape all this chaos, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda: the oldest temple in the city. It is located on a small island in Hanoi’s West Lake, and still quite unknown. The site isn’t super big, but since it is so peaceful and quiet here you can definitely explore for some time. Stroll around the area, or bring your camera to snap some pics! Entrance is free, but don’t forget to dress appropriately since it’s a place of religion.

Une promenade de 15 minutes ou un trajet de 5 minutes sur le pont vous amène à votre prochaine destination.

Visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex

After a quiet escape in Hanoi, it is time to bring you to a place that is completely the opposite. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where President Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body is on display in a glass coffin, is probably the busiest place in Hanoi, possibly even Vietnam. That is, if you’re visiting between 7.30 AM and 10.30 AM like we did. During these hours, the body is open to the public, which means tons of Vietnamese people and tourists will be waiting in line to get a glimpse of the man. We didn’t know this in advance and just followed the queue, eventually we were led into the Mausoleum where we saw the body on display. The whole experience and setting felt surreal, but we’re glad we did it so want to encourage everyone to do it, too. Make sure to dress appropriately, follow the queue, and don’t wear anything on your head as this is not allowed. Of course, this is not all this place has to offer. If watching the deceased body of President Ho Chi Minh is not your cup of tea, you can still wander around the complex to admire Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh Museum, and the The Presidential Palace (yellow house). A lot to do and see here!

Une marche de 30 minutes ou un trajet de 10 minutes vous amène à votre lieu de restauration du jour.

Try your first banh mi at Banh Mi Hoi An

Time to taste your first banh mi! You didn’t think we would let you explore Hanoi without letting you taste one of these amazing sandwiches, would you? ;-) The banh mis at Banh Mi Hoi An are probably the best we’ve eaten in all of Vietnam. And trust us, we’ve tried a looooot of them (probably from 50 different places). We have tried literally every single item on the menu so we think we know what we’re talking about! For vegetarian options you have to order the egg (without pate!). But the absolute best one they have is the BBQ chicken, there are no words to describe how perfect this banh mi is! Disclaimer: this place is bustling no matter what time you visit. Just wait in line as the line moves really fast. We guarantee you’ll have your order in 5 minutes, maybe even less!
