Climb the second highest mountain of Africa in two-days!
Most organizations organize a pick-up from your accomodation in Marrakesh to Imlil (1500 m). This is a two-hour drive and is most of the time included in the price. You can also go to Imlil yourself and start the hike directly from there. This will probably lower the costs too.
Day 1: : Marrakech – Imlil 1740m – Toubkal Refuge 3207m.
The first day you will start the trek in Imlil (1500m) after you met the local team, your guide and your private chef. Walk 2 hours to the lunchspot near a river. The chef will prepare a meal there to regain strenght. Walk 3 tot 4 more hours on steep paths to the refuge camp where you will spend the night. Once you have reached the refuge camp (3207m) you will receive a snack and dinner. You will spend the night in a mixed dorm for 26 people.
Day 2: Refuge 3207m – Toubkal summit 4167m – refuge 3207m – Imlil 1740m – Marrakech.
After breakfast around 3.30 am you will start climbing up again to reach the summit of Jbel Toubkal by sunrise. Go easy as the lack of oxygen can play you parts. Take a break to enjoy the breathtaking views! Once you have reached the summit and have taken enough pictures you will descend back to the refuge camp. Grab a cup of tea before heading back to the spot at the river where you will have lunch again. After lunch you keep descending to the bottom of the mountain and to Imlil. Eventually, a driver will drive you back to Marrakech.
