Somewhat hidden in northern Lombok you can find two beautiful waterfalls close to each other. Both Tiu Kelep waterfall and Sendang Gile waterfall are located in Senaru, an area where most people spend a day before hiking to Mount Rinjani.
Upon arrival in this town, there are several signs to the waterfall trail. After paying the IDR 20,000 entrance fee, it only takes a few minutes downhill before you stumble upon the first waterfall; Sendang Gile. This one is the smaller of the two, but certainly no less impressive. If you want, you can cross the river and even stand under the falling water. In high season, it is possible to get drinks and snacks at the foot of this waterfall. We visited it in October and there were no other people around, which made it even more unique.
If you continue the trail for another 20 minutes, you will arrive at the immense Tiu Kelep waterfall. This hike along the river takes you through the jungle and was one of the most beautiful hikes we have done so far. The waterfall itself is the second most powerful waterfall we saw during our trip in Indonesia. Highly recommended!
