Keling King Beach on Nusa Penida, also known as the 'T-Rex', is truly incredibly beautiful—if you go at the right time!
Throughout the day, tourist buses pile up, and people queue up to take the iconic Instagram photo. From above, the cliffs resemble a T-rex, hence the name. Descending and ascending becomes a challenge due to having to navigate around posing people and waiting times for photos.
We came, we saw, and we left. In the late afternoon, we decided to take another look, as many visitors were just returning to their buses. It was our cue to descend! What starts with steep steps downward ends with scrambling among rocks to reach the beach. So, be prepared with sturdy shoes, no flip-flops.
The beach is one of the most beautiful I've seen. A bay nestled between the cliffs. The sea is very rough, and many people have gotten into trouble while swimming, so be extra cautious.
We were treated to a beautiful sunset and stayed until the blue hour. Being the last ones on the beach meant we had to climb back up in the dark. It was challenging, especially without a light, but I would do it all over again.
