Portugal
Today is all about viewpoints!
São Miguel offers you many beautiful viewpoints. Let's explore them together!

Most popular viewpoint in São Miguel
We start of with the most popular viewpoint in São Miguel which gives you a view over Sete Cidades, a massive volcanic crater. It's important to start with this viewpoint in the beginning of your trip, because you might be unlucky with the weather. In that case, you can always return whenever the weather is better. Good to know is that you first need to hike up to the viewpoint which will take you around 15 minutes. As you can see, we were unlucky with the weather, but to my opinion it was still worth the climb as the fog gave a mystical atmosphere to the scene :)

Another chance for a lookout on Sete Cidades
Were you unlucky as well when visiting the previous viewpoint (Miradouro da Boca do Inferno)? No worries, just drive down to Miradouro da Vista do Rei and you will still be able to get a glimpse of the Sete Cidades.

Quick stop for a picture of this idyllic church
A change of view!

One of my personal favorite viewpoints
Drive all the way down to Miradouro do Cintrão. Of course you can take as many photo breaks as you like since you'll be passing many more viewpoints. However, I was most amazed by this viewpoint. Just look at the picture and you'll understand why.

Sit down for a delicious cup of tea.
Tired of all those viewpoints? Up for something new? I get it. Drive to the Gorreana Tea Factory where you can get a tour around the factory for free. Afterwards you can explore the tea plantation for free across the road and to end this amazing experience, you can go to the cafeteria just next to the factory where you can enjoy as much tea as you want. And yes, as well the tea is for free! So much value and all for free, I couldn't get over it. I would highly recommend to buy some of their delicious tea to take home!
