I spent an afternoon watching Mont Saint-Michel from a distance, with the sunset behind the castle—it felt like a real-life Disneyland. Easily the highlight of my week. The next morning, I took the bus and went in at sunrise, just before the big tourist groups arrived. It’s a tourist magnet, no doubt, but I have to say, it’s worth it. Left just as the crowds rolled in—perfect timing. Historically, Mont Saint-Michel was founded in the 8th century and has served as a fortress and major pilgrimage site. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of France’s most iconic landmarks.
