If you’re up for a slice of American culture while in Okinawa, Mihama American Village is a must-visit! We spent a fantastic day exploring this vibrant entertainment complex in Chatan, soaking up the retro American vibes that make it so unique. And even if the US isn’t your cup of tea, we still recommend visiting this place just because it’s so fun to see how the Japanese see the US. For example, there’s a whole area dedicated to Christmas! Seeing Christmas trees and decorations whilst it’s over 30°C was an experience in itself.
One highlight of our visit was the American Depot, a thrift store where we scored some fantastic finds. We also loved the retro feel of the Mihama Seven Plex cinema: such a fun spot to catch a movie! If you’re in the mood for a little more relaxation, Sunset Beach is just a short stroll away. It's a lovely place to unwind with a barbecue or simply enjoy the sunset.
Whether you’re into shopping, food, or just soaking up the unique atmosphere, Mihama American Village offers something for everyone. It definitely should be on your Okinawa itinerary if you’re looking for a fun, nostalgic experience!
