Most people think of the Provence in France when they think of lavender fields, but did you know in Croatia they also grow lavender? The lavender can be found on the popular islands of Brac and Hvar. Hvar island in Croatia is a touristic destination where people come to enjoy a beach vacation and party in one of the many bars and clubs. But they are also a main producer of lavender. The lavender fields can be found on top of the mountain, near the village named Brusje and they are also marked on google maps. The lavender fields here look nothing like France, they grow in between the rocks and bushes so they blend in the surrounding nature. Since the fields are on top of the mountain at Hvar the views are also spectacular with views of the coastline and Adriatic Sea. If you plan to see the lavender fields plan your visit in June or July, just the delicious smell of the lavender is a good reason to come here! It’s not very well known with the main crowds coming to Hvar so it’s very peaceful without any other people there. Don’t forget to buy some local lavender products like soaps, lavender bags, essential oil etc. which are sold all over the island.
