Hiking towards the Vajolet Towers
The Vajolet Towers is, outside the Drei Zinnen (Tre Cime), the most photographed natural phenomenon that you should not miss in the Dolomites. You can start in two different places: - Start at Rifugio Stella Alpina (1960 m), to get here you have to take the last part by bus. Then you walk to Rifugio Vajolet and the nearby mountain hut Preuss (2243 m). - Start at the König Laurin cable car and take this cable car up to Rifugio Fronza (Rosengarten hütte). Then follow path number 550 and then path number 541 and then you will also reach Rifugio Vajolet. From Rifugio Vajolet take path number 542 and in about one hour you will reach Rifugio Alberto Primero (2621 m), this mountain hut is located directly below the Vajolet Towers. Here you can enjoy your time admiring the peaks or continue going uphill. The path is more 'climbing' than expected, but it's all very safe. At some parts you will come across a metal cable. The path can be very steep and slippery when it has been raining, so hold on tight to the cable or use your via ferrata set. To return, use the same path as you came up.
