Los Rapidos is a fantastic spot for a fun and unique adventure in Bacalar. This lazy river, part of the lagoon, has natural currents that gently carry you through stunning turquoise waters. What’s even more impressive, is that everywhere you look you are surrounded by mangroves and stromatolites, with the occasional palm tree there as well. You can relax and float along, or rent a kayak (200 MXN per hour for a single or 400 MXN for a double) if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous. No matter what you choose, you’re sure to have an amazing time!
The entrance fee is 200 MXN (around € 9), and lockers are available for 50 MXN. It’s open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, but arriving early is a good idea to avoid the crowds. Don’t forget your water shoes, and remember sunscreen isn’t allowed to protect the lagoon’s ecosystem. Located just 15 minutes from Bacalar, it’s a fun and refreshing way to spend the day! The drive up there (through the forest) is already part of the fun as well.
