Astro Boy is a trendy Japanese restaurant located in Ghent, just meters away from the Leie-river. The restaurant is known for its traditional and fushion sharing dishes that are both visually stunning and absolutely delicious. They call themselves a "Japanese-inspired izakaya with sharing dishes, cocktails and natural wines" which leaves a lot to your imagination.
The menu offers a wide range of options, such as gyozas (dumplings), okonomiyaki, sweet potato, mussels, and much more. We really recommend the okonomiyaki, a Japanese-style savoury pancake, and the mussels with kimchi butter. Both dishes are bursting with flavor, delightful, and so original! Every time we visit Astro Boy, we reordered these dishes because we can't get enough of them. They also have various Japanese drinks, such as local wines and Japanese teas, or even sake!
The restaurant is divided into two cozy floors, each with a unique atmosphere. On the ground floor, you can choose to eat at the bar or at one of the tables - a more intimate setting. The upstairs floor, however, is ideal for larger groups. If you come with six people or more, you get the option to try all the dishes they offer. This is definitely recommended, this way you also get to taste dishes you would never order otherwise!
Astro Boy offers a unique dining experience and is a must-visit for anyone who wants to discover the delicious Japanese cuisine in a warm atmosphere. Come and discover the delicious flavors of Astro Boy for yourself!
