Once primarily known among surfers, Siargao is quickly gaining popularity with backpackers. This island is not just a surfer’s paradise; it’s also a charming destination to add to your island-hopping adventure in the Philippines. With its stunning beaches, cozy coffee and brunch spots, little boutiques and welcoming hostels and hotels, Siargao has something for everyone.
The heart of the surf scene is Cloud 9, a good spot to catch some waves. If you’ve ever dreamed of trying surfing, this is the perfect place to ride your first wave.
To visit Cloud 9, there’s an entrance fee of 100 pesos, about €2. Once there, you’ll find plenty of locals ready to offer surf lessons. If you’re not up for trying a surf lesson, you can grab a drink at one of the beachfront bars, watch the surfers in action, or enjoy the sunset from the pier.
