Discover the most unique desert in Spain by car. The beautiful “Desierto de Los Coloraos” is located in Gorafe and it owes its name to the predominant colour of the geological formations of the clayey soils. The landscape forms are shaped by erosion and also known as badlands: 'bad lands' because of their aridity and the rugged nature they present, making agriculture impossible. Sunrise and sunset are the ideal times to enjoy the breathtaking landscape of the desert. The Desierto de Los Coloraos is certainly one of the most unique landscapes in Europe. We did a four-wheel drive vehicle trip with one of the specialised companies that offer guided tours. There are a lot of them: Soloaventuraevents, Al Andalus Phototour… All of them allow to enter and experience the area, providing information, explanation and interesting anecdotes.
