The Zsigmondy Hut, located in the Sexten Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy, is a mountain hut that gave us our first real taste of life in the mountains. After a day of hiking, we spent the rest of the evening relaxing with fellow hikers. The room was quite crowded, with bunk beds for 24 other people. But falling asleep was easy after the day's efforts.
The hut sits on a rocky ridge at the base of Zwölfer Peak, at an elevation of 2,224 meters. The surrounding landscape is part of the Three Peaks Nature Park. This hut is named after the famous Viennese alpinist Emil Zsigmondy.
