During my recent trip to Berlin, I visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe at sunset. Spread over 19,000 square meters, this Holocaust memorial consists of 2,711 concrete stelae of varying heights. Because of the open layout, you can fully immerse yourself from all angles, and gain new perspectives every time.
Walking among the waves of concrete, you feel a sense of disorientation and introspection. The uneven surface and abstract design evoke feelings of dizziness and uncertainty, reflecting the tragic history it represents.
I highly recommend visiting this memorial at sunset. With fewer visitors around, the changing shadows and altered light create a different atmosphere, adding to the emotional impact of the experience.
