The Victory Gate, Pantuxay, is worth a visit. It was built in 1957 as a tribute to those who fought for Laos' independence from France.
The design is inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but incorporates Laotian architectural elements such as traditional reliefs and decorations.
By train, you can reach the capital of Laos in just under 50 minutes. Vientiane is the capital and largest city of Laos, like most cities here, situated on the banks of the Mekong River. It is a city with strong French colonial influence, evident mainly in its architecture and cuisine.
