Les Aiguilles d'Arves, also known as the Needles of Les Arves, reign majestically over the Valley of the Arvan in the Arves massif from afar visible. These (3) mountains are considered by many to be the most breathtaking trio of mountains in the French Alps. The mountain peaks, officially recognised by UNESCO World Heritage, rise powerfully from the landscape and provide a sublime backdrop for a tough hike of 11 to 14 km (700-800 altimeters). Starting point is parking du relais, reached via a narrow and winding (asphalted) mountain road.
