Gran Canaria
The Maspalomas Dunes in Gran Canaria
Activity
free
Did you know Gran Canaria has its own desert? The Maspalomas Dunes ("Mas-palomas" meaning "Land of Dunes") are formed by the wind and the sea over thousands of years. Start walking up the dunes at Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas. You will soon be amazed by the view: the dunes seem to stretch endlessly far. Walking up and down the dunes can be a challenge! Be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. In half an hour you'll reach the beach on the other side for a refreshing dip. The Maspalomas Dunes are particularly magical during sunset. Bring a picnic and watch as the dunes change colors under the fading sun.
