1. Breakfast Pasteis de Nata, what else?

I chose Destination Hostel for my stay in Lisbon, which I could highly recommend for solo-travellers to meet other international travellers. Their price-quality ratio is amazing, the staff is very kind and helpful and the hostel is also very well located in the centre (above the Rossio train station, so also ideal to go on day trips outside of Lisbon) and they organise a lot of events and guided walking tours. Before the walking tour, I decided to go to the nearby famous Manteigaria (Chiado neighborhood) and taste their renowned Pasteis de Nata. Trust me, you will not be dissapointed.

2. Free guided walking tour city centre

Even if you’re not staying in the Destination hostel, they offer each morning a free guided walking tour also to external people to explore either old town with the big flea market or the city centre (depending on the day). I did the city centre walking tour with the lovely guide Manuel, these walking tours are a perfect way to get to know the city, its rich history, viewpoints over the city and the hidden gems in the beautiful neighborhoods of Barrio Alto and Chiado. For a nearby lunch, Manuel recommended me A Provinciana. It is a very low budget local restaurant with Portuguese specialties like Bacalhau (cooked in various ways). I paid 10 euros for grilled Bacalhau and a half bottle of the house wine, amazing price-quality and a truly local experience.

3. Apéro time - Secret Garden Rooftop Bar

Although many travellers recommended me to go to Park rooftop, Manuel recommended me to go to the Secret Garden Rooftop in Old Town. It’s less touristic, the view is even better, prices are very reasonable and it has a really authentic cool vibe (my favorite rooftopbar in Lisbon).
