Not just a regular cooking class, at HAVEN, you will go on a culinary trip and learn how to create dishes bursting with worldly flavors. Led by Tom Vandenberghe, world traveler and author of six cooking books on street food, the HAVEN team organizes workshops on many different cuisines such as Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, Japanese, Moroccan, and local 'Ghent'.
We went with Vietnamese. The chefs do a lot of the prep, so over the course of 3-4 hours we got to make (and taste) plenty of different dishes, from Vietnamese noodle soup (pho bo) to spring rolls, grilled fish in banana leaf, Vietnamese curry and caramelized garlic shrimp (tom rim man). The atmosphere is amicable, the space industrial boho, the food delicious - and afterwards you receive a very detailed recipe booklet so you can try and replicate the dishes once back home.
You can join one of their open sessions in Dutch, contact them for a (group) workshop in English upon request, or let them do all the cooking and join one of their 'so-haven late night' sessions when they open up as a restaurant.
