Took the ferry from Calais to Dover, and drove from Dover to Whitstable

We took the ferry around 9 in the morning. We had our car with us, I love to travel with the ferry so you can have a beautiful view during your crossover. During the trip you can have a breakfast and coffee upstairs in the ferry. The drive from Dover to Whitestable is about 40 minutes, mainly on the highway. Once you arrived, Whitestable is very easy accessible by car.

Visit the town and beach

Whitstable's beach and town are super cozy because everything feels close and personal. The pebble beach has these cool wooden barriers that make perfect hangout spots, while the town itself is packed with cute shops and houses all squished together in the best way. It's the kind of place where you'll end up chatting with locals in tiny seafood spots and chilled pubs – perfect for young travelers looking for authentic vibes without the tourist traps!

The Lobster Shack & Whitstable Oyster Company

The Lobster Shack sits right on the beach with incredible sea views, serving up the freshest lobster rolls and seafood platters caught literally hours before they hit your plate. What makes it special is the no-frills, straight-from-the-sea approach - you can watch boats unloading their catch while enjoying your meal on the outdoor deck. Whitstable Oyster Company is basically seafood royalty - they've been farming the famous Whitstable natives since the 1400s! Their restaurant in an old oyster store has this perfect mix of history and modern coastal vibes. The oysters have this distinctive sweet-but-briny flavor that comes from the unique mineral content of Whitstable's waters. Recommend both so much!

Walk to Tankerton Beach and its beautiful huts

Tankerton Beach is like Whitstable's chilled-out cousin - way less crowded but just as gorgeous! The grassy hill (locals call it "The Slopes") is perfect for lounging around with friends and snacks while taking in awesome sea views, plus those cute candy-colored beach huts make it super Instagram-worthy.
