Phnom Penh is an amazing buzzing city. One of the must visit places is the Royal Palace, a stunning architectural complex and also one of Cambodia’s most iconic landmarks. Today it serves as the official residence of the King of Cambodia and is a symbol of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
The Royal Palace features beautiful classical Khmer architecture as it was built in 1866 when the Khmer settled permanently in the city. The architecture has elements of traditional Cambodian design mixed with French colonial influences.
The complex includes grand buildings, lush gardens, and intricate details. Key structures include the Silver Pagoda, Khemarin Palace, and the Chanchhaya Pavilion. There is also a miniature Angkor Wat which was fascinating for both us and the kids.
