Vila Nova de Gaia is the city located on the other side of the Douro River and the place where all the port wine is stored. It seemed like a newer, smaller and less touristic city than Port it's but absolutely a must to explore!

Port tasting at Calem
There are plenty of port houses located in Vila Nova de Gaia that offer tours of the cellars and port tastings. We chose for Calem and had an amazing time! Our visit started with a short visit to their beautiful museum, followed by a very interesting tour and ended with, of course, the port tasting.
