In the northwest of Uzbekistan, right on the border with Kazakhstan, once lay the fourth largest lake in the world: the Aral Sea. In English, it is even referred to as the 'Aral Sea'. As of 2022, only a tiny puddle of water remains, all due to a utopian agricultural project during the Soviet Union. The still shrinking Aral Sea is thus one of the greatest ecological dramas of the 20th century. Since 2018, the Stihia Festival has therefore raised its voice and poses the world one pressing question: What about the Aral Sea? I don't have a ready-made answer, but I do know that they throw a big party every year, no matter how contradictory it may sound. 'Raven' on a dried-up seabed has something tragic and magical at the same time.
