Hike to Vallon de Bonnepierre
Strenuous and difficult hike to the glacier of Bonnepierre of 12 km and 1.200 height gain.

Hike to Vallon de Bonnepierre
Starting point La Bérarde and end point La Vallon de Bonnepierre: a hike towards a glacier - or what used to be a glacier. It was still very hot when we left (32° Celsius). We traversed the valley and were quickly in search of a river or other water body since our bottles of water were quickly devoured. Luckily, we came across a small waterfall. The higher we climbed, the more difficult the path got. We reached a steep mountain ridge with loose stones and no grip at all. We eventually reached the top of the rigde, but unfortunately the glacier had receded massively. There was almost no snow to be seen. We had lunch at the top of the ridge and then made our way down. Be careful with descending as it is more difficult than climbing. There is no fixed path and the rocks are really loose. Always test a stone before you take a step, or try to boulder your way down with stones gliding under your feet. lenght: 12 km height gain: 1200 m Total duration: 7,5 hours
