The 13-km hike to the Refuge Temple Écrins will not leave you disappointed. We started off in la Berarde in the burning sun, and took our first break at le Carrelet - an empty hut nearly halfway the hike. We climbed our way up with a lot of Z-curves until we reached the refuge. Between the chickens, we had a wonderful view over La Meije with a refreshing drink. A truly stunning view. Around 3.30 p.m. we started our way back to see golden hour still hiking in the mountains. The pink flowers, the reflection of the sun in the bright patches of the river and the smell of sandy pepples: a wonderful hike to do in the afternoon and early evening.
