Parrot Rock

Directly in front on Mirissa Beach you can find Parrot Rock. It’s a small red-colored rock island, that towers off the coast of Mirissa Beach. It’s become one of the best things to do in Mirissa as the viewpoint offers one of the most scenic and best views of Mirissa beach. Because Parrot Rock sits out at see, getting across can be quite tricky considering the tides giving you only a moment to cross over from the beach to Parrot Rock. Once you’re on the other side, a narrow path of stairs leads you to the top of the rock where you can take in the stunning views across Mirissa. Parrot Rock is only 10 minutes away from the main town and makes for a quick stop over on your way to the Coconut Tree Hill.

Coconut Tree Hill

Coconut Tree Hill is one of the most Instagrammable spots and the must visit locations in Sri Lanka. The private coconut farm is located on a high cliff overlooking the glistening waters of the Indian Ocean, just a 15-minute walk from Mirissa Beach. Once you’ve climbed to the top, you’ll see many swaying tropical palm trees covering the red soil hill. Surrounded on three sides by the Indian Ocean, Coconut Tree Hill will not disappoint you with its amazing views. You can see Mirissa Beach and Parrot Rock in the distance while just below the rocks there are occasionally turtles popping their heads up out of water. Coconut Tree Hill can be accessed throughout the day or night and the entry is completely free.

Mirissa Beach

Although the main stretch of Mirissa Beach is popular and therefore more crowded, it’s still a cool and peaceful place to hang out and a great way to spend the afternoon chilling out in the sun and enjoying a refreshing dip in the ocean. Also at night Mirissa Beach has much to offer. Taking a stroll on the back in the evening is also very peaceful, the beach remains crowded with people enjoying all around and the beachfront is lit up with lights from the bars and restaurants. A handful of excellent restaurants, all offering different kinds of foods, are situated on the white sand, making it the perfect setting for a romantic beachside candle light dinner.
