Chengdu is practically the panda party central! They've got this awesome place called the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. It's like a panda paradise where you can see these fluffy animals chilling out, chowing down on bamboo, and doing their panda thing. It's not just fun; it's also super important for helping pandas thrive in the wild!
If you're over 60, admission is free. I purchased my entrance ticket for 9 euros, but online prices can soar up to around 50 euros. I booked mine using WeChat, a Chinese app. If navigating the app seems difficult, don't worry; simply ask your hostel or hotel for assistance.
Make sure to book your tickets as early as possible because they're in high demand. I managed to purchase mine just a day in advance, but it might have been pure luck that there were still some available. Better safe than sorry! (;
The park is conveniently located near the city, just a 10-kilometer drive away. Expect to pay around 6-8 euros for a one-way taxi ride.
The park is quite big, so consider purchasing a shuttle car service for around 4 euros per person. With this option, you can hop on and off at various stops throughout the park, making it convenient to explore at your own pace
If it's raining, you might want to skip visiting the park because the pandas will likely be indoors.
And lastly, consider visiting in the morning when the pandas are most active.
Have fun!
