Olpererhütte and its panorama bridge
Experience an amazing hike of more than 600 meters to the most famous instagram suspension bridge located in Austria. Besides seeing a huge reservoir, a few waterfalls and some epic mountain peaks, you can enjoy a good old school wheat beer at the typical Austrian huts.

Most epic view from the Olpererhütte
The Olpererhütte is located at an altitude of 2,389 meters and is only accessible by foot from the Schlegeis Stausee reservoir. To get to Schlegeis Stausee, you drive to the town of Ginzling. From here it is only a 15 km drive to the lake, but it will take you at least 40 minutes. When you drive past Ginzling, you will come to a toll road which will cost you about 13 euros. Make sure you arrive before 10 am, because the parking spaces can fill up quickly, especially during high season. At that time of the year you are not allowed to drive on the toll road. We were there in October so we weren't bothered by tourism nor a blocked toll road. From the parking lot at the reservoir, follow route 502 to the Olpererhütte. It is a 3 km route that will take you about 2 hours. The route becomes more challenging as you get higher, because you have to climb over large rocks. Nevertheless, the view over the high mountain peaks and the reservoir become more and more beautiful. Make sure you go on a non-cloudy day, otherwise there is no point in hiking up, because you'll have no view! When you reach the Olpererhütte at an altitude of 2389 meters, you can enjoy a wheat beer or an apple strudel with a great view at the inn. Don't feel like going down the same day anymore? Then you can also spend the night at the Olpererhütte. The Olpererhütte is closed in October, so we decided to take our tent with us and spend the night sleeping as if we were one with nature.
Before arriving at the next destination, you can stop across the road to have lunch while getting a first glimpse of the waterfall.
