If you're looking for one of the most rewarding hikes in South Korea, Ulsanbawi Rock in Seoraksan National Park is the one. š„¾ This was hands-down our favourite hike in Korea, and while itās a tough climb, the panoramic views make every step worth it.
Enter Seoraksan National Park via the main gate near Sokcho. After a 5-minute walk, follow the signs to Ulsanbawi on the right. Itās well-marked and easy to find.
The trail starts gently, winding past temples and alongside a river. And quite soon, youāll spot Ulsanbawiās towering rock formations in the distance. After a few kilometres, the real challenge begins: over 800 steep metal stairs leading straight to the top. Take breaks, catch your breath, and donāt forget to turn around from time to timeāthe views on the way up are just as stunning!
Reaching the summit feels like standing on top of the world. From three different viewing platforms, youāll take in spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountains, dense forests, and even the Eastern Sea stretching to Sokcho. An epic climb for epic views! āØ
