In Nong Khiaw, you are surrounded by breathtaking viewpoints. From the imposing limestone cliffs to green hills, each panorama looks like it came straight out of a painting. Take a hike to the Nong Khiaw Viewpoint for a spectacular view of the village and the surrounding nature.
The hike is quite challenging and takes 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes to reach the top. Allow a good half hour to get back down and be sure to bring a light if you start your descent after sunset. Good hiking shoes and plenty of water are also essential.
Don't forget that Nong Khiaw was heavily bombed by the Americans during the Vietnam War. To this day, the area still deals with the aftermath of these bombings. There are still UXOs (unexploded ordnances) in the ground. It is important to follow the designated paths to minimize risks.
