The Blue Mansion & the Clan Jetties

Our second day in George Town was all about soaking up the city’s charm at a slower pace. We started the afternoon with a delightful lunch at Indigo, the elegant restaurant inside the iconic Blue Mansion, where history meets fine dining. Later, as the sun began to set, we wandered along the Clan Jetties, a series of traditional wooden stilt houses built over the water. The peaceful atmosphere, the soft sound of the waves, and the warm evening light gave our day the perfect, laid-back ending.

Indigo Restaurant @ The Blue Mansion

Our second day in George Town treated us to a truly memorable lunch at Indigo, the fine dining restaurant inside the iconic Blue Mansion. For 99 RM per person, roughly €20, we were served a delightful three-course menu that felt like an absolute steal. Each course came with a selection of dishes to choose from, and while a few of the more special items required a small extra charge, every bite was worth it. The service was impeccable; the staff made sure every guest felt well taken care of, adding to the relaxed, elegant atmosphere. We savored every course, enjoying the perfect balance of flavors and the beautiful presentation of each dish. Another highlight of dining at Indigo is that it grants you the opportunity to explore the Blue Mansion itself. Normally, visitors pay an entrance fee and the number of guests allowed per day is limited, so being able to stroll through this historic building after our meal was an unexpected bonus. Walking through its vibrant blue walls, wooden staircases, and open courtyards truly felt like stepping back in time. A delicious lunch paired with a beautiful location, this experience was easily one of the highlights of our stay in George Town.

The Clan Jetties

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, we wandered along the wooden walkways of George Town’s famous Clan Jetties. The rows of traditional stilt houses, gently swaying above the water, created a peaceful and nostalgic atmosphere. Golden light reflected on the calm sea while locals went about their evening routines, making it the perfect moment to slow down and simply take it all in. Strolling here at sunset felt like stepping into a quieter, timeless side of Penang.
