The Belgian Ardennes are an ideal destination for a short escape from our daily lives. During our two-day adventure, we discovered both the lively atmosphere of the city and the tranquility of nature. On the first day, we explored Liège, a city full of character, where historical charm and modern shops go hand in hand. We enjoyed the atmospheric streets, the hustle and bustle of the markets, and of course a touch of Belgian gastronomy. In the evening, we headed to B&B Ferme La Joye, a charming and welcoming bed & breakfast run by Flemish people. The cozy atmosphere and quiet location made it the perfect place to relax after a day in the city. The next morning, we exchanged the city bustle for the fresh air of the Ardennes and headed to Achouffe, a picturesque village known for its brewery and beautiful hiking trails. Amid rolling hills, dense forests, and babbling brooks, we enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature. This report takes you on our journey – from shopping street to forest path, from Liège to Achouffe, with a stop at a warm and welcoming B&B.

On the first day, we visited Liège, a city full of character and contrasts. We started with a relaxed shopping session in the bustling city center. After an afternoon among the shop windows, we headed to the Park d'Avroy, a green refuge in the middle of the city, where we could escape the hustle and enjoy the peace (Uh, wow! How beautiful is it here!?)
Achouffe
After a delightful night at B&B Ferme La Joye, we headed towards Achouffe for the Fairy Valley walk (5.9 km). The path led us through dense forests, alongside babbling brooks, and over picturesque bridges. The nature was breathtaking, although the muddy ground sometimes made it an adventure. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and the fresh Ardennes landscape. After this beautiful hike, we concluded at Achouffe Valley, a cozy place where we enjoyed a well-deserved meal in a charming setting. The perfect ending to a lovely day in the Ardennes!
