Mdina, Malta’s ancient walled city, feels like stepping back in time. As soon as we arrived in Malta, we drove straight to Mdina. We parked just outside the city walls since no cars are allowed inside. It’s incredibly quiet—only pedestrians and the occasional horse-drawn carriage taking tourists around. The sun casts a warm glow on the old houses and narrow streets, making everything look even more magical. The doors are all different colors, and many have golden door knockers shaped like dolphins, lion heads, or Greek gods instead of doorbells. On almost every street corner, you’ll find small statues or religious icons. We loved wandering around, enjoying a drink on a terrace, and discovering hidden shops.
