Rimplas - Sospel
A date with Col de Turini, the pass of the hundred-and-one hairpin bends known from the Monte Carlo rally.

Rimplas - Sospel
80 km 1825 meters of elevation I keep encountering more and more colorful houses, lizards, and wild thyme. Then you know it well: I am in the south! 🌞 The Col Saint-Martin (1500 m), frequently featured in Paris-Nice, was my first pass of the day. For me, it wasn't a memorable climb, but due to its length, this climb to the mountain village of La Colmiane is quite a challenge. 💪🚵 The difference in experience couldn't be greater with the stunning Col de Turini (1607 m), which was waiting for me after a long descent. I climbed it from Lantosque, that is to say from the western flank. Along the way, I saw nothing but rocks, walls built of natural stone, forests, amazing panoramas, and hardly any traffic: I instantly fell in love with this climb that owes its fame mainly to the Monte Carlo rally. What a spectacle that must be in this setting! 🚘🏁 But even on a bike, the Turini is a fantastic experience. The ascent is already beautiful and not overly difficult. But the descent, that's where the enjoyment is with the countless hairpin turns: the Turini is a playground for adults. 🛝↩️
