Ecuador

First wildlife encounter

Fly in to the Galápagos from Quito or Guayaquil. Of the three inhabited islands, the first you'll visit is San Cristóbal. Start exploring the island on foot to discover walking trails, viewpoints and beaches full of sea lions.

Check-in to Hospedaje Romy

On San Cristóbal, you'll arrive in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the largest town on the island. Hospedaje Romy is a basic hotel but an excellent place to stay. The owner is super friendly: he picks you up at the airport and helps you with all activities you would like to do.

Chilling with sea lions on Playa Mann

Stroll along the promenade and keep an eye out for wildlife. Sea lions rule this town, so they'll be hard to miss (how cute are those pups 😍)! It's amazing to see large crabs, blue-footed boobies and iguanas sitting on the rocks in the bay. After about 10 minutes, you arrive at Playa Mann, a lovely beach where you can relax between the sea lions. This feels so unreal! Playa Mann is good spot for snorkelling and to watch the sunset.

A walk in the natural reserve

From the Centro de Interpretación, follow the path to mirador Cerro Tijeretas, a lookout over a small cove with lots of bird life. On a clear day, you can spot Kicker Rock in the distance. Continue to Muelle Tijeretas, a great bay for snorkelling.

Playa Punta Carola

Another beautiful beach packed with sea lions. The best time to swim and snorkel is during high tide because of the many rocks in the water.
