When in Granada you definitely should take the time to explore Sierra Nevada National Park. The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range located near the city and means "snowy mountain range" in Spanish. From the city centre of Granada, you can see the snow-capped peaks in the distance! (Even when it's +30 degrees outside 😳). It is the second highest mountain range in Europe, after the Alps, with peaks that go above 3,000 meters. In summer, it’s a great place for hiking with the mountain scenery and tiny villages to explore.
We started our drive by passing the Mirador del Embalse de Canales, a great viewpoint, where we walked for a bit and decided to return in the evening, as it was the perfect spot for watching the sunset!
Continuing our drive upwards, we reached the ski slopes. Yes, you can ski here! The entire journey was incredibly beautiful. Having our own rental car allowed us the freedom to explore at our own pace, and we highly recommend it for anyone wanting to experience the same sense of adventure and flexibility!
