France
Laon, Épernay and overnight in a chateau.
Lunch in Laon, a taste of champagne in Épernay, and a quintessential French stay in a charming chateau.

Lunch stop at Laon
Departing from Belgium to the champagne region in France, the medieval city of Laon is the perfect stop along the way. On a clear day, you can spot its impressive Gothic cathedral from afar, crowning the town from the central hilltop. Stroll along the natural heritage walk, discover the charming corners of the town, and grab a tasty lunch at restaurant le Parvis - right in front of the immense cathedral.
Continue your drive towards Épernay

Épernay, the heart of the champagne region
When you are visiting the champagne region for the first time, Épernay is a must. The unofficial capital of champagne is mostly known for the Avenue de Champagne, a street lined with impressive mansions home to the most prestigious champagne houses, and thus the perfect place to join a guided cellar tour or enjoy a tasting. If you are after a more authentic tasting experience and would like to discover a lesser-known brand, Champagne Boonen-Meunier, just outside of the town, is a great alternative option - just give them a ring in advance!

Evening walk in Anthenay
Before settling into your accommodation of the night, go for an evening walk and take in the golden hour - which has an extra special edge in the French countryside. We got lucky and even spotted a cute family of deer, running off into the sunset.

Overnight at Ferme du Château
A stunning place to stay when you are exploring the Champagne region, Ferme du Château offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and luxurious design. The common areas include a large indoor courtyard, a cosy salon with an authentic hearth and a big communal dining area. A winding staircase leads up to the bedrooms, which are elegantly restored and offer romantic views over the nearby rural fields. Enjoy a relaxing bath before a quiet, restful night in the French countryside.
