Tate Modern & Notting Hill

Two places you can't miss whilst being in London: Tate Modern in the centre and Notting Hill, right above Kensington. Before you start exploring, have breakfast at Cafe Boheme. Trust me.

Breakfast at Cafe Boheme

Centred in the heart of Soho, Cafe Boheme is a place to eat and drink, inspired by the 19th-century French poets who used to meet on Old Compton Street. They serve French classics at night, and decent breakfast and brunch platters in the morning. The eggs royale are delicous, but also the french toast with chantilly and berries were to die for. We got a really nice spot near the street, with open windows and some French chansons playing in the background.

Daily dose of art at Tate Modern

Tate Modern is Tate Britain's rebel little brother. Visit this exquisite museum for free (no need for reservation) and choose whether you want to upgrade to the paid exhibitions from e.g. Yayoi Kusama and the infinity mirror rooms. Some artists such as Joan Mitchell, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol are on display permanently. As you can see, I love Mitchell's works.

Notting Hill and its pastel palette

Although mainly residential, Notting Hill is a neighbourhoud that you don't want to miss. Check out the sometimes bohemian, sometimes posh vintage, sometimes rubbish market stands at Portobello Road, walk through Lancaster Road for the famous coloured houses, and explore the rest of the neighbourhood in search of culinary experiences. If you can, make a reservation at Ottolenghi's restaurant, at Gold or Zephyr Notting Hill for some great dining experiences.

Afternoon coffee and pastries at Fabrique

Artisan bakery Fabrique at Notting Hill is super small but offers scrumptious cardamom buns, croissants and (pricy) bread loafs. Have yourself an afternoon coffee and a cinnamon bun and enjoy the buzzing vibe.

Indian dinner at Empire Empire

Tasty Indian dishes and Bollywood disco on vinyl: Empire Empire is here to steal your heart. Inspired by the glitz and glamour of 1970s disco, delicious Indian cuisine meets a lively and immersive atmosphere. Their menu features classic curries, nashtas, biryanis, kebabs, and tikkas—all rooted in the Punjabi region of the Indian subcontinent. 5 stars!
