The dome is located at the edge of the Campsite Van d’En Haut. It’s location grants you lots of privacy as well as front row seats to magnificent views of the mountains. Despite you are entirely off the grid, the dome provides you everything you need (power, heating, ventilation). On the 25m2 deck you also find a BBQ and other necessities like plates, glasses, wine openers (!). You can use the toilets and showers of the campsite.
The dome is perfect for two people and a medium sized dog (beware: the dog will most definitely scoot into bed with you). It is partially build out of glass, which makes it just perfect for stargazing at night. You even get a telescope. We didn’t want to close the curtains as the dome is perfectly oriented towards the sunrise. The ringing of numerous cowbells (from the cows grazing around the dome) woke us just in time. What. A. Sunrise. The echoeing of an Alphorn through the valley made our first ever ‘Swiss experience’ complete. Time to start the day!
We decided to visit the lake Salanfe located higher up the mountain. A steep trail (5km), starting just from the campsite, takes you to the to the top of the mountain were you can enjoy views of the valley on the one side, the lake on the other side. Alongside the hike there are some opportunities to dip you feet into the cold mountain water. Especially our dog liked it very much!
It is possible to enjoy meal at the top, but making a reservation is necessary.
